Growing up in northern New York, farming was a way of life not just for the farmers but also the local families who counted on them for wholesome healthy food that could afford. I grew up drinking milk and eating eggs from farms that were local. Fresh food was fresh because it travelled across towns not countries to get to the store. That way of life has been slowly disappearing due to large industrial factory farms.
Free Rein Ranch is working with local family farmers to breed and sell livestock that they can be proud of and support both their family and community. Free Rein Ranch is working with local family farmers to breed and sell livestock that they can be proud of and support both their family and community. Our breeding program is focused on building up the strength of the local food supply through regenerative farming practices and rotational grazing to strengthen the quality of the land. Our animals are grazing on family farm lands and improving the soils and environment in which they live.
As our breeding program and practices spread throughout New England, we look forward to the progress we can make in strengthening both the environment and local food supply. We dream of the day when the local farmers and their family can once again be both successful and supported again.
